Young people in Pulaski County between the ages of 14 and 18 would like to see a teen center of some kind established.
They also have high interest in indoor and outdoor basketball programs, baseball, softball, volleyball and offerings of trips, according to a survey recently conducted by the Pulaski County Office on Youth.
The county recreation program already offers some of the activities, such as indoor and outdoor basketball and volleyball.
The survey was given to students at Pulaski County High School, said Anthony Akers, director of the office. He shared the survey results Tuesday night at the quarterly joint meeting of the county's three governing bodies in Dublin.
A total of 1,055 students completed the survey. The number was nearly equally divided between males and females.
A total of 523 students indicated they would like to participate in a teen center, which got the highest number.
Votes on other activities the students would like were: indoor basketball, 408; outdoor basketball, 394; indoor swimming, 286; outdoor swimming, 362; baseball, softball, 452; dances, 283; volleyball, 420; bowling, 388; roller-skating (blading), 292; trips, 545; cycling, 309; soccer, 171.
