Pressure defense got Glenvar off and running as the host Highlanders downed Craig County 84-20 in a non-district girls' basketball game on Wednesday night.
Erika Hale led five Glenvar players in double figures with 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Liz Webb added 16 points. The Highlanders (6-3) bolted to a 23-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 48-9 at halftime.
Craig County (0-10) got a team-high eight points from Sommer Horn.
In another game:
Shawsville 83, Bland 32: Sarah Hagood scored 36 points and Megan Forester pumped in 21 as the Shawnees routed the Rockets in a non-district game in Bland.
Shawsville (8-2) rolled from the outset and led 47-13 at halftime and 66-16 after three quarters.
Leslie Carroll scored 15 for Bland (0-6).
Tuesday's game
Gretna 55, Fieldale-Collinsville 50: The Cavaliers struggled with their shooting in the first half and started a rally too late in the game in a non-district loss to the Hawks in Gretna.
Jennifer Witt of Fieldale-Collinsville led all scorers with 17 points including five 3-point goals that all came in the final quarter.
Gretna had four 3-point goals as a team with Amy Cook hitting two of them on the way to a 13-point game.
