HERTZ OPENS OUTLET FOR HEAVY EQUIPMENT

Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. has opened at 2315 Patterson Ave. S.W., Roanoke to rent and sell heavy construction equipment.

Hertz leased a 10,500-square-foot building, according to Tom Turner, who handled the transaction for Hall Associates Inc. of Roanoke. The building is owned by E. Lewis Bowling.

Craig Sanford, manager of the Roanoke operation, said Hertz, usually associated with rental cars, also is the No.1 heavy equipment rental firm in the world. It has 115 locations throughout the United States.

Sanford moved from a Hertz location in Orlando, Fla., to open the company's first branch in Southwest Virginia.
