The president of Renfro Corp. said Thursday that planned acquisitions by the North Carolina-based company would have no effect on its three operations in Pulaski.
Warren Nichols said the sock manufacturer's acquisitions of Fruit of the Loom Inc. hosiery operations and of Pittsburg Knitting Mills Inc. in South Pittsburg, Tenn., would not affect employment or anything else about Pulaski's Main Street, Jefferson Avenue or Newbern Road plants.
Fruit of the Loom announced earlier this month that it would sell a major part of its hosiery and other operations to Renfro, and grant Renfro an exclusive license to use its trade name. Boards of directors of both companies must still approve the agreement.
The Pittsburg Knitting Mills purchase is to be complete by the end of the month.
