ROANOKE WOMAN DIES IN 419 CRASH

A Roanoke woman died early Thursday after her car ran off the side of Virginia 419 and overturned on a side street.

Police said Beverly A. McGrew, 31, was southbound on Electric Road in Roanoke County about 9:18 p.m. Wednesday when she lost control of her car. The car veered into the median, then spun back across the road.

After going off the right side of the road, the car struck a ditch, overturned and landed on McVitty Road. The passenger's side of the car was crushed.

McGrew, who was alone in the car, died early Thursday at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was not wearing a seat belt. "If she was, she would be injured but alive," Roanoke County Officer C.M. Viar said.
