3 MEN BEAT, KICK AND ROB TECH STUDENT

Three men beat and robbed a Virginia Tech student near his apartment building Friday night.

Blacksburg police said the 24-year-old was knocked down from behind, then punched and kicked by the men.

His bookbag was taken in the incident, which happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Marlington Street.

The student was treated at Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital for head injuries and released. Police continue to investigate.
