FAKE PUNT GIVES CELTICS 21-14 WIN

Roanoke Catholic scored with a little more than five minutes to play to defeat Fishburne Military 21-14 in a Blue Ridge Conference game Saturday at Victory Stadium.

The key play on the winning drive was a fake punt from Roanoke Catholic's 46-yard line.

Punter Mark Buchy completed a 7-yard pass to P.J. Moyer on fourth-and-six with about six minutes left. Aki Al-Zubaidi completed a 37-yard touchdown pass to Terron Reed one minute later.

Fishburne Military (0-3) then drove into Celtics territory only to have the threat ended.

Catholic (4-1) was led by Moyer's 95 yards rushing on 23 carries. Kelston Byers paced Fishburne Military with 133 yards on 16 carries.

Hargrave Military 29, North Cross 8: The Raiders fell behind early and couldn't catch the Tigers in a Virginia Independent Conference game at North Cross.

The lone highlight for the Raiders (2-1 overall, 0-1 conference) was a 2-yard touchdown run by Carter Lee in the second quarter to cut their deficit to seven points. Hargrave Military (2-3, 1-0) finished the scoring with a 28-yard interception return in the fourth quarter.
