Cumbie anniversary

William D. (Buck) and Lois Cumbie celebrated their 50th anniversary on September 28, 1996. The celebration was held at Preston Oaks Baptist Church, hosted by their children and grandchildren. The couple was married September 28, 1946 in Roanoke. She's the former Lois Williams of Giles County. They have two daughters, Linda C. Linville of Manquin, Va., and Judy C. Robins of Roanoke; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is retired from Roanoke Iron and Bridge Works. She is retired from Gill Memorial Hospital. They are members of Preston Oaks Baptist Church.

Hall anniversary

Cicero Howard Hall and Doris Irene Blankenship were married September 16, 1941 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Parsonage by Rev. E.L. Douglas. In honor of their 55th anniversary, we wish our parents much health and happiness and thank them for a lifetime full of wonderful memories. We love you so much, Mom and Dad! Love: Sonee, Beth, Bill, and Lisa & Doug. We love you too! From the ""grand-ones"": Amanda, Jessica, Brittany, Javan, and Baby Elizabeth.

Hendrick anniversary

Mr. & Mrs. David L. Hendrick celebrated their 40th anniversary on September 21, 1996. The couple was married Sept. 21, 1956 at Bethany Christian Church, Roanoke, Va. Mrs. Hendrick is the former Betty Riggan of Southeast Roanoke. They have three children, Bettina Hendrick of Oakton, Va. Brent & his wife, Gwen, & Brad Hendrick, all of Roanoke. They have three grandchildren, Morgan, Jennifer & Kevin. Both are retired and are members of First Christian Church, Roanoke. They have lived in Botetourt Co. for 22 years and reside in Naples, Fla. during the winter months.

Holloway anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. James R. Holloway, Jim and Polly, of Vinton celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary September 1 with a surprise dinner in the Regency Room at the Hotel Roanoke. All of their four children were in attendance: Jimmy, a major in the Air Force stationed at the Pentagon, Sharon, an M.D. in Urgent Care at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., Brenda Tudor, a teacher in Roanoke City and resides in Vinton, Marilyn Hoggatt and husband Greg, both with Delta Airlines from Pensacola, Fla.

Pace anniversary

W. Emory and Ruby M. Pace of Blacksburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 22, 1996 with a reception at the Red Lion Inn. They were married on September 21, 1946 at Emanuel Episcopal Church in Chatham, Va.

The celebration was hosted by their children, Glenda Kurtz of Navarre, Florida, W. Emory Pace, Jr. of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Dr. Scott Pace of Greeley, Colorado and their spouses.

Mr. Pace is a retired Virginia Tech professor, and Mrs. Pace is a retired high school teacher.
