MAN DIES WHEN TRAILER CATCHES FIRE

A Montgomery County man died Monday afternoon when a fire destroyed his trailer home.

Investigators identified the victim as Ronald L. Cromer, 52, and said he was dead when rescue workers found him in the den of his home. They said he died of smoke inhalation.

The trailer, an older model located on Mount Zion Road in the Prices Fork section near Blacksburg, was engulfed in flames when fire and rescue vehicles arrived about 4:30 p.m., said Blacksburg Fire Chief Keith Bolte. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.

Damage to the home was estimated at $15,000. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
