Two New River Valley companies can add Poland to their list of international customers, thanks in part to Gov. George Allen.
Tuesday, during his visit to Central and Eastern Europe, Allen announced ventures between two Polish entities and Blacksburg-based VTLS Inc. and RADVA Corp. of Radford.
VTLS, founded 10 years ago with support from the Virginia Tech Foundation, develops multilingual library software that users can access through the Internet.
Ossolineum library agreed Tuesday to purchase VTLS software, which will facilitate access to the library's 1.5-million volume collection, including several thousand books from the Gutenberg era.
A Polish building company agreed to buy almost $1 million in RADVA equipment and jointly form a new company to operate it. RADVA makes equipment used to make pre-fabricated houses and industrial buildings.
