C&S Galleries, which is on the verge of getting a new building and changing its name to Collector's Showcase, gained recognition Wednesday as a top franchise for selling limited-edition dolls, plates and other items through Gallery Market Group Ltd.
Eddy and Jeanette Stephens' business was the only Gallery Market dealership to gain top dealer recognition in a region covering Maryland, Delaware and Virginia for exceptional performance, marketing and sales in 1995.
Under the franchise, C&S sells a variety of dolls, figurines and one-of-a-kind plates depicting Christmas, movies, Civil War and other scenes from such outlets as the Bradford Exchange, Ashton-Drake Galleries and Longton Crown, Ardleigh-Elliott, Hawthorne and Bradford Editions. The nearest Gallery Marketing franchises to Dublin offering these products are in Bristol to the west and Staunton to the east.
A new 40-by-70-foot building is being constructed on U.S. 11 and Ruebush Road by Landmark Builders of Dublin, which will give C&S expanded display space. The new building is scheduled to open sometime in November.
C&S has been at its present leased site on U.S. 11 East (Broad Street), shared with Dublin Flower Shop, for the past five years. In addition to its more recent Gallery Market franchise, it is also the exclusive area outlet for the art work of P. Buckley Moss.
"And we didn't frame [the citation], because we figured " Roman said, pointing out the hundreds of frames lining a wall of the custom-framing shop.
