Tultex Corp. of Martinsville said Wednesday it has become a majority owner of a motorsports clothing company it created in December with retired driver Richard Petty as a partner.
Tultex said it expects to increase its sales and market share through its investments in Track Gear, formerly Wide Open Performance Wear Inc. Tultex did not release financial details of the investments.
Track Gear operates a screen printing plant in Charlotte, N.C., as its main manufacturing facility. It makes and sells T-shirts, sweat shirts, jackets and hats featuring big names in auto racing. Tultex makes and markets activewear and licensed sports apparel.
