Automobile air bags have reduced deaths by 27 percent among front passenger-seat riders over age 13 involved in head-on collisions, the National Highway Safety Administration said Thursday. However, a study it released showed a 28 percent increase in the risk of death for children up to age 13 from passenger-side air bags.
