A baby shower turns into deluge
BLACKSBURG - Between 100 and 150 people contributed gifts, food, clothing and up to $3,000 during First American Federal Savings Bank's recent "baby shower," making the shower the bank's most successful to date.
The donations will be given to the Children's Home Society.
Also contributing to the effort were local businesses and residents, who gave refreshments for the bank's customers and donators during the fund-raising week. Contributing were: Kroger, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Our Daily Bread, Carol Lee Cakes, Sycamore Deli, Best Wishes, Gates Flowers & Gifts, Long & Long Attorneys, Eddie Effinger, C. Jeffrey Stump and Karen Putnam.
