NS honored for supporting arts

Artrain, a national art museum that travels by train, plans to honor Norfolk Southern Corp. on Monday for the railroad's work in promoting the arts.

NS, a supporter of Ann Arbor, Mich-based Artrain, will be recognized as the museum's 1996 National Rail Sponsor at a dinner in Detroit.

"Numerous communities have been enhanced and countless individuals have benefited because of the Norfolk Southern commitment," said Debra Polich, president of Artrain. The organization noted NS' contribution to the arts in Roanoke, Norfolk and Atlanta.

Artrain is a five-car rail museum that travels around the country with exhibitions stopping in communities without access to large museums.

Halesford Marine and Captains Quarters Boat Rental, both located at Halesford Bridge on Smith Mountain Lake, have been purchased by two Roanoke investors.

William C. Bundy of Bundy and Co., a business brokerage firm, who handled the transaction with associate Dick Baynton, said terms of the sale would not be disclosed.

Bundy said the seller, Richard A. Stiff, will remain with the business after the deal for the sale is closed.
