FESTIVAL OF BANDS SET AT LORD BOTETOURT

The Lord Botetourt Cavalier Band Boosters will host the second annual Cavalier Classic Festival of Bands Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Twelve high school bands from Central and Southwest Virginia and West Virginia will compete.

Judges will score the bands in the areas of music execution, marching and maneuvering, general effect, auxilliaries, percussion, drum major and pit crew. Trophy prizes will be awarded.

Bands in this year's festival include William Campbell, Bath County, Independence, Glenvar, James River, Northside, Bassett, Wilson Memorial, Patrick Henry, William Byrd, Brookville and Rockbridge.

Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under and senior citizens. Proceeds will support the Marching Cavaliers. The festival will be held in the football stadium unless severe weather conditions force it indoors.
