A 6-year-old Pulaski County girl was seriously injured Saturday when a car hit her as she ran across Virginia 617 near Fairlawn to join a playmate, state police said.
The driver did not see the girl, whose name is being withheld because of her age, because a bush blocked his view, police said.
The girl was first taken to Carilion Radford Community Hospital and then later a Roanoke hospital. Her family asked that information about her condition not be released.
No charges have been filed, but the commonwealth's attorney will be consulted, police said.
