Model train layout

The new O-Gauge Model Train Layout will open at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke on Oct. 12, as part of the Roanoke Railway Festival.

The layout will have four levels of operating O-Gauge trains, depicting major rail cities in Virginia, such as Roanoke, Richmond and Norfolk, as well as a coal mining region.

The bottom level will be constructed for a child's eye view.

The layout was designed and built by the Roanoke Valley O-Gauge Club for the museum. Many of the materials, structures and accessories have been donated by local and national corporations.

The public is invited to the grand opening and dedication. The museum is located at 303 Norfolk Avenue.
