Staunton River struggled with foul trouble Saturday in losing a Seminole District girls' basketball game 53-43 to Brookville.
Staunton River (6-6 overall, 3-1 district) trailed by two points after three quarters. Foul trouble led to Brookville shooting 39 free throws and making 27. The Bees were 15-for-22 at the line in the fourth quarter.
Crystal English led Staunton River with 15 points and 15 rebounds, and teammate Erin Wolfe added eight points and nine assists. Brookville's Lindsay Ferguson led all scorers with 19 points and teammate Brandi Moore added 10 points.
Grundy 76, Carroll County 55: The Cavaliers fell victim to a strong second half by the Golden Wave in their 21-point Southwest District loss in Grundy.
Carroll County trailed by five points at halftime. A 28-point outburst in the fourth quarter was what Grundy needed to pull away for the win.
Carroll County (3-10, 0-3 district) was led by Angie Farmer's 16 points and Tracey Leonard's 13 points. Grundy (8-3, 2-1) was led by Ashley Mullins' 28 points and Leigh Farmer's 22 points.
