Clarification

Pioneer Life Insurance Co. of Illinois, which has a Roanoke agency, offers a discount of up to 20 percent on its Medicare supplemental (Medigap) insurance policies in the Roanoke area. The rates printed on the Sept. 30 Money Page were based on those filed by the company with the Virginia State Corporation Commission and are its rates prevailing in Richmond, according to company officials.

In addition to the geographic discount, the company offers a 15 percent discount to customers it considers to be in good health. With those discounts, the rates for Roanoke policyholders would be $279 for Plan A and $583 for Plan C.
