Christmas Store getting organized|

CHRISTIANSBURG - Applications are now available for the 1996 Christmas Store and must be processed by Dec. 1 to be accepted.

Volunteers are needed Oct. 19 at the store, in the old Heck's building on Roanoke Street in Christiansburg, from 9 a.m. to noon to help unload storage trailers and to set up the store.

Setup for the store will begin Oct. 22 from noon to 9 p.m. Setup days are limited to Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays this year.

The store will not be open on Monday, Thursday or Friday this year.

Used goods collections will begin on Nov. 2, at Northside Presbyterian Church and at the Christmas Store.

On Oct. 26, the Montgomery County Christmas Store will be participating in the national Make-A-Difference Day.

Volunteers are needed to help collect canned food, to clean, to set up and for related projects.

Crafts fair deadline Dec. 15

BLACKSBURG - The application deadline for the 26th annual Brush Mountain Arts and Crafts Fair is Dec. 15.

The fair will be held at Virginia Tech on April 4-6, 1997.

The fair helps raise funds for The Voluntary Action Center of Montgomery County, a nonprofit agency that matches the skills and interests of volunteers to meet area human service needs.

Arts and crafts ranging from baskets and pottery to watercolors and woodcarving are sold by the more than 100 artists and craftsmen who participate annually.

Other attractions include musicians, children's art activities, food concessions and nonprofit showcase and door prizes.
