Hills Department Store donated more than $450,000 worth of classroom equipment and supplies to 1,214 public schools last year through its "Supply-a-School" program. This program allows participating schools to collect the bottom portion of Hills receipts and redeem them for a variety of educational materials.

This year, 10 Roanoke-area schools will benefit from this program, which will apply to receipts dated from Aug. 1, 1996 to April 30, 1997. The program started two months earlier than in previous years.

For more information about this program, call 1-800-245-3023, extension 332.
