GUNTER LEADS FORT CHISWELL

Amber Gunter had 22 points to lead five scorers in double figures as Fort Chiswell held off George Wythe 69-63 in a non-district girls' basketball game Wednesday night in Fort Chiswell.

Amy Coleman added 13 points, Kelly Reynolds and Kristen Harmon scored 11 apiece and Toshia Smith added 10 points, seven rebounds and four blocks for Fort Chiswell (8-6).

Megan Johnson scored 17 points to pace George Wythe.

In another game:

Bassett 69, Fieldale-Collinsville 50: The Bengals built a 28-point lead through three quarters, then held on after emptying their bench in a Piedmont District victory over the Cavaliers in Bassett.

Heather Miller led the Bengals with 28 points. Carrie Quinlan scored 20 points for Fieldale-Collinsville.

Tuesday's game

Rural Retreat 56, PH-Glade Spring 44: Jane Grubb scored 16 points to lead the Indians (9-5, 4-3) to a Hogoheegee District victory over the Rebels in Glade Spring.
