BACOVA GUILD LOSES CEO PAT HAYNES

Pat Haynes is quitting as chief executive officer of Bacova Guild Ltd., the Bath County maker of home furnishings he helped build into a diversified, worldwide company.

The company announced his departure Wednesday, saying he "will pursue other business interests" while continuing as a Bacova director.

Haynes and former partner Ben Johns bought the company in 1981 when it was a small manufacturer of mailboxes with imprinted designs. Today, it calls itself the world's largest producer of printed accent rugs and welcome mats. It also produces decorative items for the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom.

Haynes and Johns sold the company last year to Burlington Industries of Greensboro, N.C.
