A Tennessee man accused of killing his girlfriend and assaulting five other women during a two-state crime rampage is vowing he won't be captured alive.
Sullivan County Sheriff Keith Carr in Blountville, Tenn., said Bradley Duane Osborne, 27, of Hermitage, is ready ``to go out in a blaze of glory.''
``This is not the kind of guy you want to get macho with,'' Carr said.
One victim, Donetta Keyser, 46, of Mount Juliet, was fighting for her life Friday after being shot in the head.
Since Wednesday, Carr said, Osborne shot and wounded a former girlfriend in an Abingdon, Va., motel room; tried to kidnap a woman Wednesday night at a Bristol, Tenn., convenience store; kidnapped a third woman from a Bristol coin laundry, raped her several times and took her car; and tried to abduct a fourth woman at an Elizabethton, Tenn., shopping mall.
About 4 p.m. Thursday, police found the body of a fifth victim - Stacey Cook, a 22-year-old Bristol woman believed to be Osborne's girlfriend - in a remote part of Washington County, Va. The woman had been shot in the head.
Osborne reportedly told one of his victims that he had no intention of surrendering.
``He told her that when police catch him, it's going to be a question of who's going to be the quickest. He said he intended to go out in a blaze of glory,'' Carr said.
Osborne is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair.
