ASTRONOMY TALKS IN BRISTOL

Charles Tolbert, professor of astronomy at the University of Virginia, will give a public lecture on "Why the Big Bang, Anyway?" on Wednesday evening at 8 in the White Hall Auditorium of King College. Admission is free.

He will speak again at 10 a.m. Thursdayon "Evidence for Extra-Terrestrial Life?" in Memorial Chapel, including why scientists generally do not accept supposed evidence for "other beings."

Tolbert, currently with the Leander McCormick Observatory at the university, is a specialist in both optical and radio astronomy. His talk will explore when the universe was formed and how big it is.

His talks are part of the 41st annual King College Science Open House, generally attended by more than 200 high school seniors.
