CELEBRATIONS - ANNIVERSARIES

Creasy anniversary

Nelson A. and Norma P. Creasy celebrated their 50th anniversary on October 12, 1996, with a reception at North Roanoke Baptist Church. They were married on October 12, 1946, at Melrose Baptist Church by Dr. W. B. Denson.

The celebration was hosted by their three children, Cathy Reed of Henderson, Tenn., Ronnie Creasy and Gary Creasy of Roanoke, Va., and their spouses. They have five grandchildren.

Mr. Creasy is a retired contractor and Mrs. Creasy is retired from Roanoke City Schools. They are members of North Roanoke Baptist Church.

De Felice anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Fred De Felice celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 9. They were married in Roanoke, on October 9, 1946, and have been residents for 40 years. She is the former Virginia Booth of Vinton. Their children are Kathryn D. and Dan Large of Acworth, Va., and Charles and Ann De Felice of Wilmington, Del.; and grandchildren, Heather and Dan Large of Glen Allen, Va., Kristen Large of Acworth, Ga., and Elizabeth De Felice of Wilmington, Del.

Fred is a retired Realtor, and Virginia is retired from Virginia Western Community College. They are members of Windsor Hills United Methodist Church.

Dillard anniversary

H. Basil and Edith Wade Dillard of Vinton celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on October 8, 1996. They were honored by their children and families with dinner at The Homeplace Restaurant. The couple was married on October 8, 1931, at Belmont Baptist Church in Roanoke where they are still members. Mr. Dillard retired from Norfolk and Western with 47 years service. The couple's children are Lloyd and Shirley Dillard of Virginia Beach, Ardella and Donald Hough of Vinton and Loretta and Robert Pedigo of Vinton. They have 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Dudley anniversary

A surprise reception was held for Mr. and Mrs. Nelson B. Dudley at Central Baptist Church on October 12, 1996 in honor of their 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was hosted by their five children and their spouses, Donnie, Lynette, Angie, John and Regina Dudley, and Trudy and Ronnie Wood. They also have 3 grandchildren, Cris, Holly and Megan.

Everitt anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Everitt renewed their marriage vows for their 20th wedding anniversary before 50 friends and family on September 7 at the Green Ridge Baptist Church, Roanoke. Officiating ministers were Rev. J. Michael Palmer, pastor, Green Ridge Baptist Church, and Dr. Douglas F.C. Keffer, New Beginnings Counseling Services. Tim Everitt and Edwin Everitt served as attendants for their parents. Mike and Cecelia were married on September 11, 1976, by Rev. Dick Johnson, former pastor of Calvary Bible Baptist Church, Rock Hall, Md.

Harvey anniversary

Allene and John Harvey celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary September 27, 1996, at their home. They were married September 27, 1946, in New Castle, Virginia.

She is the former Allene Harless of Craig Co. John lived his younger years in Kansas. He is retired from Celanese and served in the Air Force during World War II. They have one son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna Harvey of Christiansburg, and two grandsons Travis and Mathew Harvey. The couple resides in Rich Creek, Va.

Jackson anniversary

Charlie M. & Madeliene Jackson will cerebrate their 50th anniversary on Monday, Oct. 14, 1996. The couple was married Oct. 14, 1946 in Vinton, Va. by Rev. Thomas of East Gate Baptist. Both were born, raised & reside in Roanoke, Va. Mrs. Jackson is the former Madeliene Davis. Their children are Larry Jackson of Goodview, Va. and Keith Jackson of Moneta, Va. Mr. Jackson was employed by Krispy Kreme Donut Co. for 30 years before retiring. He is currently employed by Burns Security as Site-Supervisor at A.E.P.

Jones anniversary

The Rev. Dr. and Mrs. George Wesley Jones of Vinton, VA celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 28, 1996 at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church. The reception was given by their children and grandchildren. The couple was married on September 28, 1946 at Central United Methodist Church in Arlington, VA by the late Rev. J. Herman Carroll. Mrs. Jones is the former Rachel Littleton of Emory, VA. Since retirement in 1985, they have resided in Vinton where Dr. Jones serves as part-time associated minister of Thrasher Memorial.

Pennino anniversary

Helen and Tony Pennino celebrated their 50th anniversary on October 12th, 1996.

Peyton anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Peyton of Roanoke, were honored at a Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary celebration Saturday, October 12th, 1996. The four o'clock affair, held at the Hotel Roanoke, was hosted by their son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Jefferson Gray and Colleen Street Gray of Richmond.

Relatives and friends from Mississippi, Florida and Virginia were in attendance.

Mr. and Mrs. Peyton have two grandchildren, Mason Anthony Gray and Megan Colleen Elizabeth Gray of Richmond.

Mr. Peyton is a retired accountant with the Veteran's Administration. Mrs. Peyton, the former Marguerite Mays, retired from Heironimus Department Store.

Trollinger anniversary

Fifty years ago on September 28, 1946, James and Gladys Trollinger were married. N.C. They celebrated their 50th anniversary on Sept. 28, 1996, with a luncheon at Natural Bridge Inn. It was hosted by The Trollinger ``Kids''. The couple was married in Alamance Co., N.C. They moved to Roanoke in 1959. Mrs. Trollinger is the former Gladys Marie Wood. They have four children, Marvin Trollinger of Hopewell, Va., Richard & Patsi Trollinger of Danville, Ky., Brenda Canney of Roanoke, Va. and Kate & Quenten Hall of Roanoke. They have eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Trollinger is retired from Hennis Freight Lines. Mrs. Trollinger was employed by Lakeview Manor.

Wray anniversary

Woodrow Wilson and Annie Barger Wray celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 6, 1996 at The Homeplace, Catawba.

Wilson and Annie were married at Enon Baptist Church, in Hollins, on October 11, 1941.

They are charter and active members of the Hollins Road Baptist Church.

They have one daughter and two grandchildren.

They currently reside in Moneta. They are formerly from Botetourt County.
