Two students at James Madison University were found dead of gunshot wounds in the apartment of one of the victims, police said Sunday.
Ann Margret Olson, 25, and Keith J. O'Connell, 23, were found dead in O'Connell's apartment Saturday night. Police went to the scene after receiving a tip from a friend of one of the victims.
O'Connell, originally from Long Island, N.Y., was a junior business major at JMU, said Fred Hilton, a university spokesman. Olson already had graduated but was taking additional classes for teacher certification.
O'Connell and Olson also waited on tables at a local restaurant. They met at the restaurant and had been dating at least two months, said Kevin Lombard, manager of Spanky's Restaurant.
``Ann was our No. 1 server, our supervisor, and Keith was one of our better servers,'' Lombard said. ``They were two of the nicest people I've ever known. We're all pretty shaken up.''
