2 ADM executives expect indictment

WASHINGTON -Two top Archer Daniels Midland Co. executives didn't receive immunity in the record $100 million settlement the agricultural giant reached Tuesday with the U.S. Justice Department and are expected to be indicted.

Ending a four-year federal probe, Archer Daniels pleaded guilty as expected in a Chicago federal court to two felony counts that it colluded with rivals to fix prices and sales levels globally for the animal-feed additive lysine and citric acid. The government asked that the fine be paid before Jan. 14.

Left unprotected in the agreement are ADM Vice Chairman Michael Andreas, son of Chairman and Chief Executive Dwayne Andreas, and Terrance Wilson, vice president of the corn-feed business.

Both have been notified that they are targets of grand jury investigations and they expect to be indicted in the next few weeks, according to a person close to the company.

Moths spur recall of Halloween candy

The Annabelle Candy Co. of Hayward, Calif., has recalled its Rocky Road candy bars after moths were found in several packages last week in California stores. The company said the moths pose no health risks.

Among the products recalled: Rocky Road regular, mint and dark chocolate 1.82-ounce bars; Halloween-style miniature sizes and Rocky Road Six Packs and 4-ounce Theater Pak boxes. Full refunds will be available to any consumers who return Rocky Road candy bars to the store of purchase, the company said.
