The second citizen forum on Montgomery County school needs will be held tonight.
The forum, sponsored by the Town County Citizen Partnership, will continue a meeting last month that drew about 50 people.
Some at last month's meeting said they wanted to see small schools close enough to walk to. Others wanted facilities the entire community could use. Some simply wanted air conditioning and windows that would open.
Those suggestions were taken to both the School Board and the Board of Supervisors. The boards are mapping out the location and design of three new schools in the county.
Groups will continue to brainstorm what local communities want in their schools and talk with members of both boards.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Christiansburg headquarters library of the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library located at 125 Sheltman St.
This forum is also sponsored by the New River Valley Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and the League of Women Voters.
