IN SERVICE SOUTH

STAFF SGT. MICHAEL E. SWEENEY, son of Larry Sweeney of Roanoke, recently was promoted to his present rank while serving with the 1st Radio Battalion, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

PVT. JAMES B. SISSON, son of Frederick Sisson of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Sisson is a 1995 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

PFC. BRIAN E. SARVER, son of Sydney and Sherry Sarver of New Castle, recently completed a deployment to Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, Calif. This 24-day exercise included training in rock-climbing, rappelling and building rope bridges.

Sarver is a 1995 graduate of Craig County High School.
