William Fleming vs. Pulaski County
WHEN/WHERE: Tonight 7:30 p.m. at Pulaski County
RECORDS: William Fleming (2-4 overall, 0-0 in Roanoke Valley District); Pulaski County (6-1 overall, 1-0 in Roanoke Valley District)
Radio: WRIQ (101.7 FM)
PLAYERS TO WATCH: William Fleming - quarterback-defensive back Charles Burnette; Pulaski County running back Craig Hodge
IMPLICATIONS: William Fleming has been plagued by injuries, but seems to be fairly healthy after a week off for the Cougars. Since losing to Salem in the third game of the season, Pulaski County has won four straight and mauled the last three opponents by more than 31 points a game.
QUICK HITS:Fleming makes no pretense about having a score to settle. Colonels' coach George Miller was upset by a late field goal try from Pulaski County a year ago when the Cougars whipped Fleming 27-14. Miller contends that Pulaski County should have killed the clock while Cougar coach Joel Hicks maintains placekicker Shayne Graham had a chance to become the all-time career leader in high school field goals. He wound up second on the list. Burnette, who was feared lost for the year with a broken arm, is able to play as the injury wasn't as severe as first suspected. Hodge is second in Timesland scoring with 102 points including 17 touchdowns.
