Todd Hallauer's goal with 29 seconds to go gave Roanoke College a 3-2 victory over Virginia Wesleyan in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's soccer game Saturday in Norfolk.
Kevin Goodwin and Ryland Dennis each assisted on the goal, which came a little more than three minutes after Virginia Wesleyan had tied it on Gary DePalma's second score of the game.
Demis Yanco and Walter Robinson had the other goals for the Maroons (6-3-2 overall, 4-1-0 conference), and Brian Zaks made eight saves. Scott Morgenroth had seven saves for the Marlins (7-5-1, 4-2-0).

* Billy King of Roanoke shot a 6-over-par 78 in the third round of the PGA Senior Club Professional Championship at Ibis Golf and Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. King is 12 shots behind leader Bill Hall of St.Louis.
* The Carolinas golfers blew past their Virginias counterparts during the Virginias-Carolinas matches at Bayside Golf Club in Virginia Beach. The Carolinas, which has won the competition the past two years, won 14 of the 24 matches and halved two to battle back from a 12-point first-day deficit and take a 75-69 lead heading into today's alternate-shot play.
* Washington and Lee defeated Sewanee 2-1 in a non-conference men's soccer game in Sewanee, Tenn. Sam Chase had both goals for the Generals (8-3). Chase scored his first goal at the 32:39 mark of the first half. Pat Nix tied the score at the 69-minute mark. Chase scored the winner six minutes later, his sixth goal of the season.
* Ferrum dropped a 2-1 decision to Chowan College in a non-conference men's soccer game in Murfreesboro, N.C. Andy Langston and Aaron Fenn scored for the Braves (9-5-1), and Adam Fowler netted the lone goal for Ferrum.
* Pasi Kinturi's overtime goal lifted Campbell to a 3-2 men's soccer victory over Radford University at the Dedmon Center Stadium. The Highlanders (7-8-1) took a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Kevin Kelly, both in the first 20 minutes of the game. The Camels (8-7-1) outshot Radford 21-0 after intermission.
* The Ferrum women's soccer team gave up the tying goal with 2:03 remaining in the first overtime as they tied Chowan 3-3 in Murfreesboro, N.C. The Braves (4-8-1) scored less than a minute after Ferrum had taken the 3-2 lead. Kim Leyden had all three goals for Chowan. Ferrum got goals from Hilary Wager, Elizabeth Adams and Shannon Sayre.
* The College of Notre Dame (Md.) defeated Washington and Lee 3-0 in a women's soccer game in Baltimore. Kelly Stephenson, Christine Scelfo and April Krueger scored for the Fighting Irish. Scelfo added an assist on the Stephenson goal.
* Virginia Tech fell to George Washington 1-0 in an Atlantic 10 Conference women's soccer game in Blacksburg. Vicky Brunt scored the lone goal 16 minutes into the game for the Colonials (9-4-1, 6-0-1). The Hokies (7-7-1, 4-2) were outshot 18-9.
* The Virginia Tech men's team finished 15th and the women's team was 29th in the NCAA Division I Cross Country Pre-Nationals in Tucson, Ariz., a competition that featured many of the nation's top teams. Jason Dowdy was the Hokies' top male runner, placing 68th, and Jennifer Conner finished 106th for the Tech women.
* Mimi Smith's second-half goal lifted third-ranked Old Dominion to a 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association field hockey victory over Radford (7-6, 1-4) at Dedmon Center Field. The Monarchs (13-2, 5-0) outshot the Highlanders 22-6. Smith's goal came with 19:38 remaining in the game.
