CELEBRATIONS - WEDDINGS II

Mann-Franke

Krystin Renee Franke and Andrew Francis James Mann were united in marriage on August 24, 1996 in a morning ceremony at the bride's home in Salem, Virginia. The Bride's father, Dr. Walter R. Franke, Jr., officiated. A brunch reception followed the wedding. On September 7, 1996, a service of marriage blessing was performed at St. John The Baptist Parish Church, in the groom's village of Wonersh, Guildford England. Reverend Patsy Kettle and Dr. Franke officiated. An afternoon tea at the groom's home followed the service.

The wedding party joined the bride and groom in both services. Kathryn Franke, the bride's sister, served as maid of honor and Dana Baker, friend of the bride, was a bridesmaid. Sophie Scopes of Kent England, niece of the groom, was the flower girl. Scot McKee and Bill Vallis, of Hampshire, England, stood as best men.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Walter R. Franke, Jr. of Salem. She is a graduate of Glenvar High School and earned a B.S. in Finance with a double major in English from Virginia Tech. After working in the brokerage industry for 5 years, she moved to the Turks and Caicos Islands where she was employed as a scuba instructor.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Mann of Wonersh, Guildford England. He attended Cranleigh School and graduated from Portsmouth University with a degree in Business. After working in the business sector and serving 5 years in the Royal Marines Commandos, he moved to the Turks and Caicos Islands where he was employed as a scuba instructor.

The couple will be living in Kenilworth, England, where the groom will be attending a MBA course at Warwick University.

Martin-Craft

Loch Haven Lake in Roanoke was the setting for the outdoor wedding of Susan Craft and Timothy Martin on October 19, 1996. Reverend Mark Radecke officiated. The reception was held in the Club House.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Deanne McGhee was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Lynn Bell, Elizabeth Bowles, Michele Cobler and Tracey Garland. Flower girl was Katie Martin, daughter of the groom. Kenny Martin served as best man. Groomsmen were Sal Ambrosio, Barry Clinevell and Vince Jennell. Guest book attendant was Stacey Craft.

Susan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Craft of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Roanoke College and is employed by Roanoke Gas. Tim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Martin of Salem. He is a graduate of Salem High School and attends Virginia Western Community College and is employed by Roanoke County.

The wedding was coordinated and directed by Pat Bruce, wedding photography by Jan Bruce, portrait by Jim Markey and flowers by Renee Moore.

The couple will reside in Roanoke.

Martin-Nichols

Rose Lee Nichols and William Randall Martin were married September 21, 1996 in Cave Spring Baptist Church, with Pastor Rick Elmore officiating. The reception was held in the fellowship hall.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Donna Jones, best friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Kris Shandor Saul, cousin of the bride; Mrs. JoJo Martin, sister-in-law of the groom; and Mrs. Maggie Martin, sister-in-law of the groom.

The best man was M.J. Williams, best friends of the groom. Ushers were Mr. Bill Saul, cousin of the bride; Mr. Gregg Martin, and Mr. Scott Martin, brothers of the groom. The guestbook was attended by Deidra Martin and Vicki Settle.

The bride wore a formal Victorian gown of ivory silk with chapel length train. The bodice was of sequins with pearls and glass beads. The veil was made by Judy Shandor, aunt of the bride. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink and ivory roses with ivy and baby's breath.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Eva Nichols of Boones Mill, Va., and the late Raby Lee Nichols.

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, James Underwood of Boones Mill.

She is a 1977 graduate of Oceana High School in Oceana, W.Va., and is employed by Trigon Blue Cross, Blue Shield, FEP Dept., in Roanoke.

The groom is the son of Ms. Joan Martin of Roanoke, and Mr. Guy Martin of Richmond, Va.

He is a 1973 graduate of Patrick Henry High School and is employed at Auto Zone of Roanoke, where he is a parts sales manager.

After the wedding trip to the Pocono's in Pennsylvania, the newlyweds will live in Roanoke.

McCroskey-Graham

On Saturday, October 19, 1996, during an evening candlelight ceremony, Kelly Ann Graham became the bride of Timothy Wayne McCroskey at Fairlawn Presbyterian Church in Radford. The Rev. Dr. William H. Jackson officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Graham of Radford. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. McDonald of Radford and Mrs. Odette Graham and the late J. Lewis Graham of Radford.

The groom is the son of Ms. Sylvia McCroskey of Roanoke and Mr. Kenneth McCroskey of Roanoke. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow K. Crockett of Roanoke and Mrs. Nora McCroskey and the late Jerry McCroskey of Bluefield, Va.

Jacqueline Kifus-Tate of Chesapeake, Va., friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Paige Graham of Blacksburg, cousin of the bride was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Erica McDonald of Union, Ohio, cousin of the bride; Michele Graham of Palmyra, Va. sister-in-law of the bride; and Lori Reid of Christiansburg, Va., friend of the bride and groom. Megan Graham of Palmyra, niece of the bride, was the flower girl.

Woodrow K. Crockett of Roanoke, grandfather of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Kenneth McCroskey, father of the groom; Avery Blankenship of Salem, friend of the groom; Chris Graham of Palmyra, brother of the bride; and Damon Simmers of Christiansburg, friend of the bride and groom. Assisting in the ceremony were Sgt. Dean Wood of Copper Hill, Sgt. Russell Lowery of Salem, and PFC Everett Frost of Salem, all members of the Army National Guard. Tyler Graham of Palmyra, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

A rehearsal dinner was given in the fellowship hall by the groom's mother. The reception following the ceremony was given by the bride's parents in the church fellowship hall.

The bride is a graduate of Radford University and is employed by the United States Postal Service in Salem. The groom is currently attending Virginia Western seeking a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is employed by Cooper Industries in Roanoke and the Army National Guard.

Following a trip to Nassau, Bahamas, the couple will reside in Roanoke.

Morrow-Settles

Diane Elizabeth Settles and John Harvey Morrow were united in marriage Saturday, October 19, 1996 in the Gazebo at Mountain La ke, Virginia, at 12:00 noon. Dr. William R. Klein performed the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis Settles of Roanoke, Virginia. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Elbert Settles and Mrs. Elizabeth M. Henderson and the late Croswell Henderson. The groom is the son of Mr. Harvey Donald Morrow of Shawsville, Virginia and Mrs. Barbara Kingsley of Toulon, Illinois.

The matrons of honor were Lisa Thornhill Jones, friend of the bride of Pompano Beach, Florida, and Nancy Settles Poole, sister of the bride of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Bridesmaids were Robin Settles Trent, sister-in-law of the bride of Roanoke, Virginia and Patricia A. Wren, sister of the groom of Knoxville, Tennessee. Chelsea Settles, niece of the bride, served as junior bridesmaid.

Anthony Jones of Christiansburg, Virginia, served as best man. The groomsmen were Douglas Settles, brother of the bride of Roanoke, Virginia, Shannon Phillips and Kyle Hilton, both friends of the groom of Knoxville, Tennessee. The ring bearer was Matthew Morrow, son of the groom.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore an elegant sheath gown made of dutchess satin with a chapel length train. The scoop neckline and short sleeves were accented with seed pearls. The empire waist bodice was heavily accented with sequins and pearls. She carried a cascade of ivory roses, stephanotis, lilies and ivy.

The guestbook was attended by JoAnne Lankford Mills and Melinda Rogers Jones, friends of the bride. Peter Golladay, solo classical guitarist, provided the wedding music. The wedding was directed by Mickey Sutherland and the photography was provided by Barry Brooks.

The bride is a graduate of Virginia Tech. She is employed by Apple South, Inc. as a Director of Operations for Applebees Restaurants in Chicago, Illinois. The groom served in the United States Marine Corps and is employed in Gurnee, Illinois. After a southern wedding trip, the couple will live in Chicago.

Nezbeth-Perdue

Angela Gay Perdue and Timothy Michael Nezbeth were united in marriage September 21, 1996 in a Western style wedding officiated by Pastor Mike Bond. Smith Mountain Lake was the backdrop for the ceremony at Saunder's Point where the bride and her attendants arrived in horse drawn carriages.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Wedding music was performed by Mike Perdue, brother of the bride. Larry Seay and Terry Hannabass each sang a favorite song of the couple.

Dawn Seay, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Teri Nezbeth, sister of the groom; Robin Jarrett and Becky Dalton, friends of the bride. Asland Gibson was the flower girl.

Paul Nezbeth served as his son's best man, and groomsmen were Ken Nezbeth, uncle of the groom, Danny Cadd and Terry Hannabass, friends of the groom. Cody Dalton was the ring bearer and the junior groomsmen was Kyle Gibson.

The bride is the daughter of James E. Perdue and Mrs. Dean Carter, both of Christiansburg. Mr. and Mrs. Paul L. Nezbeth of Goodview are parents of the groom.

A reception was held on the grounds immediately following the ceremony with music provided by Cimmaron. Following a wedding trip to Tennessee, the couple reside in Goodview.

Orange-Sarvis

Triphy Kim Sarvis and Donald Eugene Orange were married September 14, 1996 in Belmont United Methodist Church. Rev. Sam McPhail was the officiating clergyman.

Grace Allen, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Tracy Hicks, Laura Barton and Freda Sizemore, friends of the bride. Morgan Kingsbury and Ashley Orange, nieces, were the flowergirls.

Steve Orange, brother of the groom, served as best man. The ushers were Richy Lee, brother of the bride; David Anderson, brother-in-law; and Randy Hicks, friend. T.G. Allen and Daniel Orange, nephews, were the ringbearers.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Lee of Roanoke. She graduated from William Fleming High School and is employed by Atlantic Mutual Co.

The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Lawrence of Moneta. He graduated from Salem High School and is employed by Norfolk & Southern R.R.

After their cruise to Key West and Cozumel, Mexico, the newlyweds will live in Roanoke.

Pearson-Wilkerson

Sarah Elaine Wilkerson and Christian Winfield Pearson were united in marriage October 19, 1996, at Peters Creek Church of the Brethren in Roanoke at 7 o'clock in the evening with Rev. Paris Bain and Dr. Jack Lowe officiating. The reception was held at the Elk's Lodge.

The bride is the daughter of Charlie and Marilyn Wilkerson of Roanoke. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkerson, Sr. and Mrs. Kathleen Craun and the late Mr. Harold Craun. She is a graduate of Northside High School and Radford University with a degree in Recreation Therapy.

The groom is the son of Sam and Susan Pearson of Warrenton, Virginia. He is the grandson of Mrs. Grace Winfield and the late Richard Winfield, and Lucy and George Pearson. He is a graduate of Fauquier High School and attended Radford University. He is employed by Engineering Consulting Services in Chantilly, Va.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Carrie Layman, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Lauren Goode, Jennifer Morrison, and Laura Lauth, friends of the bride; Carolyn Craun, cousin of the bride; Debi Wilkerson, sister-in-law of the bride; and Sallie Pearson, sister of the groom.

Sam Pearson, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Eric Daniels, Sean LaDue, Phil Rutter, Doug Layman and Chris Wert, all friends of the groom, and Allen Wilkerson, brother of the bride.

The guest book attendant was Sheryl Murphy, and program attendants were Michelle Smith and Melissa Meek. Photography was provided by Barry Brooks Photography.

Following a wedding trip to New Orleans, the couple will reside in Warrenton, Virginia.

Powell-Clough

Robin Ann Clough and Chris Lee Powell were united in marriage on October 5, 1996 at Salem Wesleyan Church. Rev. Paul Braisted officiated the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. L. Robert Clough and Mrs. Carol P. Clough. The groom is the son of Mrs. Drucilla N. Powell and the late Mr. Michael H. Powell.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The maid of honor was Catherine A. Clough, sister of the bride. The bridesmaid was Cathy P. Painter, sister of the groom. The best man was Michael H. Powell, Jr., brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Danny E. Powell, D. Todd Powell, brothers of the groom; and Steve Painter, brother-in-law of the groom.

Immediately following the ceremony, was a reception held at the Roanoke Country Club.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke following their honeymoon in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Powell-Coleman

Yvette Angela Coleman and Lee Michael Powell were married on October 19, 1996, at First Baptist Church. The Reverend Charles H. Ward officiated. The reception was held at the Kazim Shrine Temple.

The bride's friend, Jill B. Lane of Roanoke, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Cheryl Bennett of Roanoke, cousin of the bride; Angie Cunningham of Newport News, friend of the bride; Heather Dogan of Roanoke, friend of the bride; Amy Helms of Roanoke, cousin of the groom; Missy Helms of Roanoke, cousin of the groom; Dana Hodges of Roanoke, cousin of the bride; and Debbie Martin of Wirtz, cousin of the bride. Flower girl was Brittany Martin, cousin of the bride. Mary Ellen Wheeler, cousin of the bride, was wedding director. Rebecca Hedrick, friend of the couple, attended the guestbook. Kristin Bailey, cousin of the bride, attended the programs.

The groom's father, Ronald L. Powell of Roanoke, was best man. Groomsmen were Mark Coleman of Salem, brother of the bride; Chris Kite of Roanoke, friend of the groom; Billy Martin of Wirtz, cousin of the bride; Bryan Powell of Roanoke, brother of the groom; Buddy Powell of Fredericksburg, cousin of the groom; and Mark Powell of Fredericksburg, cousin of the groom.

He is employed with Cardinal Rubber and Seal. After a honeymoon trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple will make their home in Wirtz, Va.

Rife-Cope

Pamela Jean Cope and Michael Charles Rife, both of New Bern, North Carolina, were married October 19 at six o'clock in the evening at Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. John Lyles officiated the double ring ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the Myers Park Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul V. Cope of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Elwin Strobel Rentz and the late Mr. Joseph Strobel of Harleyville, South Carolina, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Burton Cope of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Rife, Jr. of Roanoke. He is the grandson of Mrs. Margaret Burks and the late Mr. Robert Burks and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Rife, Sr. of Roanoke.

The bride is a graduate of East Carolina University and works for CapeFirst Automotive II, L.L.C. The groom is a graduate of Virginia Tech and works for NADEP Cherry Point.

After a honeymoon trip to Nags Head, North Carolina, the couple will live in New Bern, North Carolina.

Rigatti-Ouellette

Barbara Jane Ouellette and Robert Ryan Rigatti were united in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony on September 28, 1996, at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Andrew's Church in Roanoke. Father Randy Rule officiated the ceremony. A reception followed at The Patrick Henry Hotel.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Anne Ouellette of Ithaca, New York. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Rigatti of Roanoke.

Laurel Senglaub of Roanoke served as maid of honor. Other attendants were Catherine Ouellette, sister of bride, Tara Rigatti, sister of groom, Stephanie Bird and Pamela Cope.

James Rigatti served as his son's best man. The groomsmen were Steve Woods, Brian Welch, Mike Teter, Mike Rife, Joe Marraccini, Sam Hampton, Jeff Harrell and Benji Boone.

The bride is a graduate of Ithaca High School in Ithaca, N. Y., and Virginia Tech and is employed by AT&T. The groom attended William Fleming High School in Roanoke and Virginia Tech and is employed by American Door and Glass.

The couple traveled to Sandals in St. Lucia for their honeymoon and are now making their home in Roanoke. They would like to thank all of their family and friends for sharing their special day.

Roop-Thornton

Renee Thornton and Nathan Roop were married September 7, 1996, in Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Paul Williams officiated.

Shannon Walls of Blacksburg was maid of honor and Jennifer Selman of Corpus Christi, Texas, was bridesmaid, both friends of the bride.

David Young of Roanoke was best man and Glen Cruickshank of Goldsboro, N. C., was groomsman, both friends of the groom.

Renee is the daughter of Connie and Gary Snider of Blacksburg and Peter Thornton of Roanoke. Her maternal grandparents are Tas and Eva O'Dell of Hiwassee, Va.

Nathan is the son of Carmon and Anna Roop of Radford. His maternal grandparents are Lewis and Treva Henley of Radford. His paternal grandparents are Stella Roop and the late Roy Roop of Copper Valley, Va.

After a honeymoon trip, the couple will reside in Columbia, South Carolina.

Shreeman-Taylor

Marnie Lynn Taylor and Joshua Michael Shreeman were married on September 7, 1996 at their home in Roanoke. The Honorable Philip Trompeter presided.

The matron of honor was Andrea Shreeman, sister of the groom; and the best man was Alan Shreeman, father of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Sandra Carlton Via of Roanoke and Mr. George T. Taylor, Jr. of Danville. She is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Mary Baldwin College and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Psychology at Radford University.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Shreeman of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and the University of Colorado and is employed by Gessler Publishing Co., Inc.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke and will be honeymooning in Hawaii.

Singleton-Muse

Elizabeth St. Cloud Muse and Matthew R. Singleton were married October 13, 1996 at The Point Montara Lighthouse, Montara, California. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Richard Singleton, father of the groom, and Rev. Caroline Fairless. The reception followed in Montara.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard A. Muse of Roanoke, Virginia. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder. She is employed as Development Director at the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics in San Francisco. The groom is the son of Reverend and Mrs. Richard O. Singleton of Cranston, Rhode Island. He is the owner of a recording studio, The Blue Room Studios in San Francisco.

The bride wore her mother's gown and carried a bouquet of over-sized cream colored garden roses, tied off with an ecru satin ribbon. The matron of honor was Paige Cole Rock. Bridesmaids were Lori McClean, Kristen Stanten, Hilary Dunn and Merede Graham. Flower girl was Logan Zimmerman. The best man was Tyrone Massey. Groomsmen were Todd Tate, Charles Quagliana, Neiley Hunt, Marty Knapp and Sean Alfred.

The newlyweds will live in Montara, Calif., after a honeymoon on the island of St. John in the Caribbean.

Williams-Smelser

By candlelight, Valerie Anne Smelser and John Douglas Williams were united in marriage October 12, 1996. The ceremony was held at Salem Church of Christ with James Herron officiating.

Valerie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold G. Smelser of Salem. Doug is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Harrah and the late Mr. Phillip Williams.

Amamda Smelser, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sarah Babbert, Christy Cundiff, Marcie Flinchum, Dawn Hall and Jackie Linkous, all friends of the bride. Flowergirls were Lela Amburgy and Kristen Phillips.

Johnny Harrah served as best man. Friends of the groom, Larry Pulz, Joe Havens, Derek Weeks, Keith Wilson and Chris Yeagley were groomsmen. Ringbearers were Ian Carney and Coty Crigger. Photography by Barry Brooks.
