TEACHER OF THE WEEK

Linda Weber isn't ashamed to admit it: She likes to have things in order. And she hopes her organizational skills will rub off on her pupils.

A math and language arts teacher at Roanoke County's Northside Middle School, Weber stresses the importance of organizational skills every day in the classroom.

"I really want them to keep up with their work," she said. "When they reach in their binders and go straight to their work, it will make them feel good. It's not as confusing and easier to learn when you're organized."

Weber, a 25-year teaching veteran, strives to ensure that every child in her class thoroughly understands what she aims to get across. If they don't, she's willing to stay after school to offer extra help. She's a stickler for homework, too, assigning it and checking it daily.

"She works so hard with us to teach us math. She helps me when I don't understand it," said her nominator. "We all love her. I am thankful for her.

Weber, a native of Erwin, Tenn., enjoys crafts and sewing in her spare time., She and her husband are the parents of a son, Joel, a junior architecture major at Virginia Tech.
