* Kollmorgen Corp.'s Inland Motor and Industrial Drives in Radford has won a $94,053 contract from the Defense General Supply Center in Richmond for electric wire, and power and distribution equipment.

* The Rent-A-Wreck offices in Roanoke and Blacksburg have become Consumer Auto Rentals sites. After 11 years as a Rent-A-Wreck franchise, owner Fred Burtner has dropped the franchise and will operate as an independent auto rental service. Consumer Auto Rentals will continue to rent cars, trucks and vans. The Roanoke office also offers Ryder truck rentals.

* U.S. coal production fell 4 percent to 21.8 million tons in the week ended Oct. 12, down from 22.7 million tons the week before but up from 21.4 million tons last year, the Department of Energy said Monday. Virginia mines produced 683,000 tons in the week, down from 732,000 the previous week and 753,000 a year earlier. Coal production so far this year is 843 million tons, 3.9 percent ahead of last year's pace.
