YOUR OLD SCHOOL LUNCH BOX MAY BE WORTH A BUNCH

Metal lunch boxes fell out of favor during the mid-'80s, when a group of Florida parents got them banned because, they contended, kids used the steel boxes to hurt each other.

State after state followed Florida's lead, until the 1985 "Rambo" box, manufactured by King Seeley Thermos, alas became the last of a long line and plastic lunch boxes became the norm.

But, wait, pack rats and other memorabilia mensches. Your old box, if in good condition, may stand you in good financial stead.

A 1960 Mickey Mouse box is estimated to be worth $1,500. The 1963 Jetsons (with bottle) is worth about $1,250. Other valuable toters (with bottle) include the 1969 Superman, $820; the 1979 Star Trek, $775; and the 1965 Beatles, $400.
