Lindsay Carroll scored a game-high 21 points to lead Salem to a 56-41 victory overAlleghany in a Blue Ridge District game Tuesday night in Low Moor.
Carroll went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line as the Spartans (9-8 overall, 4-7 district) hit14 of 17 in the fourth quarter. Sarah Palmer added 14 points for the Spartans.
Natasha Chapman led the Mountaineers (10-7, 5-6) with 19 points.
In other games Tuesday night:
Parry McCluer 47, James River 38: Lindsey Coleman scored 14 of her game-high 31 points in the third quarter as the Fighting Blues held on for the Pioneer District victory over the Knights in Buchanan.
James River (5-11, 3-4) cut its deficit to three points late in the game, but the Fighting Blues (11-6, 6-1) maintained control when they were sent to the free-throw line often.
Amy Sprinkle led the Knights with 16 points.
Glenvar 62, Auburn 21: Amanda Kennedy and Erika Hale scored 15 points each to lead the way for the Highlanders (13-4, 6-1) as they downed the Eagles (7-11, 2-5) in a Three Rivers District matchup in Riner.
Kennedy scored eight points in the lopsided third quarter. The Highlanders hit four of five 3-point attempts in the quarter as they outscored the Eagles 20-2. The Highlanders created 18 of the Eagles' 25 turnovers with steals in the game.
Bath County 69, Craig County 25: You can't let Katie Hardbarger get near the basket in the paint. When you do, she does what she did to the Rockets in Hot Springs, scoring 26 points to lead the Chargers to a Pioneer District victory.
Hardbarger, a 6-1 center, scored 14 of her points in the second quarter. Bath County (8-9, 3-4) outscored Craig County 26-7 in that period to pull away for good.
The Rockets (2-15, 2-6) were led by Rebekah Peters' eight points.
Lord Botetourt 65, Rockbridge County 26: The Cavaliers (17-1, 10-1) got scoring from 10 players as they cruised past the Wildcats (0-17, 0-11) in a Blue Ridge District matchup in Daleville.
Sarah Hicks had 17 points and seven rebounds and Sara Moore had 13 points and six rebounds to lead Lord Botetourt.
April Staton led Rockbridge County with seven points.
William Byrd 45, Christiansburg 32: Stephanie Parnell and Brandy Allen each scored 14 points as the Terriers downed the Demons in a Blue Ridge District game in Christiansburg.
The score was 18-18 at halftime, but William Byrd outscored Christiansburg 13-4 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
