New River Community College Day will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday. The annual event provides area high school students and their parents the opportunity to visit the college campus and learn more about the programs offered. This year the event is also open to the public.
An informational session is scheduled every 30 minutes. Topics will include career planning, information for persons with learning disabilities and general information about the college. There also will be information sessions about each academic area in the college. Following is a list of specific information sessions and where they will be:
* Rooker Hall - accounting and records management; college transfer (business administration, education, general studies and liberal arts); information systems technology, computer applications, computer graphics, computer technology and microcomputer operations; instrumentation, air conditioning and refrigeration; nursing; police science and forensic science and welding.
* Edwards Hall - information will be available on fiber optics.
* Martin Hall - information will be available on automotive technology, machine technology and industrial maintenance.
* Godbey Hall - secretarial programs such as administrative support technology, word processing, paralegal office systems, medical office systems, business administration, fashion merchandising and retailing, marketing and small business management; drafting and design and architecture specialization; early childhood development; electricity and electronics; human services and gerontology; sign language/interpreter training.
