IN SCHOOL SOUTH

ROANOKE CATHOLIC SCHOOL has announced that senior Timothy J. Dennehy has been named a semifinalist in the 1997 National Merit Scholarship competition. Anna Berding has been declared a Commended Student in the same program.

Winners will be announced in April.

CAROL BRENNER, a teacher at William Fleming High School, was selected as one of 10 teachers in Virginia to receive the Virginia Tech Excellence in Education Blue Ridge World of Work award. This awards honors her work in combining academics and career education through her marketing and travel and tourism programs.

TINA WOODS, an English teacher at William Byrd Middle School, has been appointed a state judge for the 1996 Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines.
