LLAMA LAND: The Autumn Classic Llama and Alpaca Show and Exhibition will be held tonight through Sunday at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington. It will feature about 200 of the furry critters, some of which will be for sale. The show also will feature vendors of llama products and gifts, a llama fiber show display, a herd sire showcase and classes, including packing, driving, costume, halter and performance.

The event is sanctioned by the Alpaca and Llama Show Association. Past shows have attracted exhibitors from 17 states. Admission is free. However, a barbecue at 7 p.m. Saturday will cost $8. ZOO TO DO: The annual ZooBoo Halloween party will be held Saturday 1-4 p.m. at Mill Mountain Zoo. Kids can dress up as their favorite endangered species or favorite character and enjoy fun, games, special animal programs, a scavenger hunt, costume parade, pinata breaking , prizes and pizza. The party is sponsored by Domino's Pizza and Nabisco's Planters' Lifesavers. Regular admission and Zoo Choo rates apply. Call 343-3241.

DIFFERENT DOCTORING: The Health and Healing Weekend will bring together some of the area's top practitioners of alternative healing, American Indian practices and related fields. Lectures, demonstrations and hands-on experiences will be offered in disciplines ranging from astrology and biorhythm reading to shamanic journeying and Tai Chi.

The fund-raiser for Lifestream Center, Brandon Avenue near Grandin Road in Roanoke, will be held 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission costs $15 for Saturday, $10 for Sunday, or $20 for both days. For the full schedule and details, call 344-3031.

FOREVER FOLKSY: The 23rd annual Blue Ridge Folklife Festival, one of the largest celebrations of authentic folkways in Virginia, will be held rain or shine Saturday at Ferrum College in Franklin County. This year's festival will include three stages showcasing traditional religious music, blues and old-time string music. Uncommon crafts such as sling shot making, distilling and water dowsing will be included among the 50 or so craft demonstrations. There also will be a horse pull, Coon Dog events, horse and mule contests, car and tractor displays, a quilting exhibition, plenty of pastimes for the kids and good homemade food from baked snacks to full-course meals. The festival runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for children and seniors; it's free for children 6 and younger. Call 365-4416 or 365-2865.

OLDE GOLD: Roxana Gundry and Oliver Brookes, from Devon, England, have toured together internationally during the last 12 years playing medieval and renaissance music. The duo, known as Roundelay, performs on a unique collection of exact copies of early instruments, including lute, viol, cittern, mandolino, shawms, recorders, gemshorns, cup bells and others. They will perform on Monday at 8:15 p.m. in Hollins College's Bradley Hall, and again on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Lynchburg College's Snidow Chapel. Both programs are free. HOW WE DO IT TIME: Montel Jordan, who opened for Boyz II Men when the vocal group performed in Roanoke last year and who topped the music charts with his hit "This Is How We Do It," will again show how it's done during the Halloween Monster Jam Thursday 5 p.m.-8 p.m., on the City Market in downtown Roanoke. Jordan will be joined by Christine W. and two other surprise guests. There is no admission fee for the Roanoke city-sponsored event. HALLOWEEN HEXTRAS: Beneath a full moon at the most rugged summit at the Peaks of Otter, Ranger Mike D'Angelo will tell Halloween Tales to anyone brave enough to listen. Visitors who wish to hike the strenuous 1.6-mile trail to the summit of Sharp Top mountain in Bedforf County or who prefer to get on the bus should meet Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Peaks Campstore. The roughly hour-long program will start at 7 p.m. A second program for the less adventurous or handicapped will be given at 9:30 p.m. at Polly Wood's Ordinary near the picnic area. Call 586-4357.

* Bus tours of Black Horse Tavern, Hollins College, Virginia Western Community College, Tazewell City Cemetery and other semifamous haunted haunts will leave from Center In The Square tonight and Saturday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets cost $7 for the entertaining, educational ghost tours, presented by the Roanoke Valley History Museum. * Approximately 50 downtown Vinton businesses, displaying pumpkin posters on their doors, will pass out treats to children accompanied by adults on Thursday 2.-5:30 p.m. Bring your own containers in which to collect the loot. Call 983-0613.

* Roanoke County Parks and Recreation Department's annual Halloween Party at Tanglewood Mall will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, offering games, trick or treating and a costume contest (starting at 6 p.m.) all within the safety of the mall. Call 387-6086.
