Here's the real scoop on the presidential race.
Baskin-Robbins has been tracking sales of two Presidential Flavorite ice creams as they ``dole'' them out to gauge how well people's tastes in ice cream match up to their appetite for the candidates.
G.O.Peanut Butter has ``just the `right' amount of chunky peanut butter ribbon in a `majority' of rich chocolate ice cream,'' according to the company's headquarters. Sax-y Candydate has ``a `fair and just' amount of creamy vanilla ice cream with `liberal' portions of Baby Ruth candy pieces.''
Other proposed flavor names were: Peanut Butter and Fudging Republicans and Do Nuttin' Mud Slinger. On the other side were So Good, I Inhaled It!, I Feel Your Plain 'Nilla with Baby Ruth and Whitewater Swirl.
In Roanoke and Blacksburg stores, G.O.Peanut Butter has been outselling the Democratic confection. Nationally, ``Sax-y Candydate'' licked the Republican flavor by a margin of more than 2 to 1.
A local employee said ``anything with peanut butter and chocolate sells well anyway'' and Dawn LaPuasa, who owns both Blacksburg Baskin-Robbins shops, admitted that G.O.Peanut Butter was a renamed existing flavor.
Sounds like Fudgegate to me.
