Glenvar jumped out to an early lead Thursday night and cruised to a 52-34 victory over Radford in a Three Rivers District girls' basketball game.
Glenvar jumped to a big lead in the first quarter on the strength of Erika Hale's 10 points. Hale finished with 16 in the first half, 23 for the game and also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Radford made a comeback in the third quarter when it cut its deficit to 13 points. Charlee Taylor had 16 second-half points, 12 in the fourth quarter, and finished with 20 points.
James River 58, Bath County 50: The Knights held a 13-point lead at halftime and held on to defeat the Chargers in a Pioneer District game in Buchanan.
James River (7-11 overall, 5-4 district) was outscored in the second half but held off Bath County (8-10, 3-5). Nakia Burrell led the Knights with 18 points.
The Chargers were led by Katie Hardbarger's 17 points.
Covington 56, Craig County 29: The Cougars held the Rockets without a field goal in the second quarter and cruised to a Pioneer District win at New Castle.
The score was tied after one quarter, but Covington (12-4, 8-0), the Pioneer leader, outscored Craig County 26-2 in the second.
Melissa Page led the Cougars with 13 points and Charity Tyree had 11.
Sommer Horn led Craig (2-17, 2-9) with seven points.
