Bankruptcies
Seven bankruptcies with business affiliations have been filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Western Virginia at Roanoke. Four of them are personal bankruptcies that the court listed as businesses because they have commercial connections and could be of interest to business creditors and customers.
* Mark A. Black of Roanoke filed for liquidation, estimating assets at more than $100,000 and liabilities at more than $500,000. He was the proprietor of Leeds Inc., a retail music store that already is in liquidation.
* William J. Hodges and Joyce A. Hodges of Rocky Mount filed for a wage-earner plan for repayment of debts with assets of $32,352 and liabilities of $54,920. William Hodges is in the floor care business.
* Herbert C. Vencill of Bluefield filed for a wage-earner plan for repayment of debts, estimating assets at more than $50,000 and liabilities at more than $100,000. He has an interest in B&G Trucking Co. Inc.
* Dallas W. Mangus and Julia A. Mangus of Penhook filed for liquidation with assets of $95,475 and liabilities of $170,920. Dallas Mangus is a self-employed contractor and formerly had an interest in Fountains & Accents Ltd.
* Timothy W. Smith and Janice S. Smith of Castlewood filed for a wage-earner plan for repayment of debts with assets of $38,865 and liabilities of $43,482. Janice Smith is the operator of Castlewood Taxi Service.
* Fred B. Soetje and Brenda J. Soetje of Independence filed for liquidation with assets of $95,400 and liabilities of $572,230. Fred Soetje, who also uses the names Freddie Finn and Mickey Finn, is a self-employed musician.
* James Wayne Horton and Deborah Ann Horton of Woodlawn filed for liquidation with assets of $53,025 and liabilities of $114,109. Deborah Horton is a self-employed nurse.
