SALEM SAILS TO 51-0 WIN

Chris Stuart led the way as Salem crushed visiting Alleghany 51-0 on Friday night in a Blue Ridge District game.

Stuart rushed for 74 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries for the Spartans (6-2 overall, 4-1 district). He scored on runs of 30, 15 and 10 yards. Brandon Poff, Dennis Haley, R.J. Beckwith and Gussie Vaughn each rushed for a touchdown.

Salem scored on its first five possessions to build a 35-0 advantage heading into the locker room at halftime. The Spartans had 484 yards total offense - 436 on the ground - and picked up 25 first downs.

The Mountaineers (1-7, 0-5) were held without a first down and had only 42 yards of total offense. Their deepest penetration of the game was to their own 41-yard line.

In other games Friday night:

Glenvar 20, Radford 14: The Highlanders capitalized on numerous Bobcats turnovers in a Three Rivers District victory in Radford.

The Bobcats failed to connect on a fourth-down pass with 39 seconds left in the game to seal their fate.

Glenvar (3-5, 2-3) was led by Lynward Twine's 122 yards on 23 carries. Marlon Wesley paced Radford (4-4, 1-2) with 105 yards on 20 rushes.

James River 53, Shawsville 7: The Knights (4-4) ground down the Shawnees (3-5) in a non-district matchup in Shawsville.

James River had 389 yards rushing on 48 carries. The Shawnees, meanwhile, had 21 yards on 18 carries.

Brian LeFlore led the Knights with 124 yards and two touchdowns, but James River also got large contributions from two players who hadn't previously carried the ball. J.R. Kitt had seven carries for 55 yards and B.J. Warf had 10 for 49.

Billy Joe Carter scored 11 of James River's points.

Quarterback Chris Graham accounted for most of Shawsville's offense, completing 16 of 26 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown.

Floyd County 47, Craig County 0: The Buffaloes rolled up 461 yards of total offense and held the Rockets to 38 in a non-district rout in New Castle.

Nick Wohn rushed for three touchdowns and 177 yards on 11 carries for Floyd County (6-2). Quarterback Tony Erchull completed seven of eight passes for 94 yards, ran for one touchdown and passed for one.

Matt Bishop caught Erchull's 9-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter as the Buffaloes took a 33-0 halftime lead.

Scott Myers added two 1-yard touchdown runs in the second half.
