Five of these children were girls and three of them attended Lynchburg College the same years. Together they graduated in 1923-and were referred to there as ``The Summers Girls''. Margaret (Peggy) began teaching upon graduation and continued in the public schools of Virginia for the next forty-four years. Her retirement in 1967 was at Highland Springs High School near Richmond. Peggy taught Latin and French and was beloved by her students-some of which corresponded with her until she died-as she was an excellent teacher and ``proper lady'', and highly respected. Her summer residence for many, many years was Nantucket, Mass. and each June when school was finished Peggy packed her trunk and went north to ``catch the ferry'' to that lovely, and then remote, island. After retirement she traveled to Europe through the Caribbean and from east to west in the United States, bringing memories and mementos back to family and friends. Peggy never married-yet her children were legion. Those hundreds who passed through her classroom the many years she taught, God blessed her. God blessed them.
