AKERS, Frances C., 53, of Laurel Fork, passed away Friday, October 25, 1996. Arrangements by Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville.

AUSTIN, Sarah Arlina, 85, of Vinton, died Saturday, October 26, 1996. She was a member of Salem First Church of the Nazarene, and was the widow of William J. Austin. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Howard H. and Sue Austin of Gulfport, Miss.; a daughte r and son-in-law, Sarah A. and Mauriece Light of Vinton; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 28, 1996, with the Rev. L. E. Humrich and the Rev. Barry Lell officiating. Mrs. Austin will then be taken to the Eberhart Funeral Home in Dallas, Ga., and graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cheatham Hill Cemetery, Marietta, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825 Electric Road, Salem, Va. 24153. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel

CRAWFORD, Mildred Blount, 77, of Botetourt County, passed away Saturday, October 26, 1996, in a Salem hospital. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church for some 50 years. Surviving are her husband, Vernon N. Crawford of the home; a daughter and her husband, Janet and Thomy Poindexter of Smith Mountain Lake; a son and his wife, V. T. (``Slim"") and Jane Crawford of Sm ith Mountain Lake; a sister, Mabel B. Trainor of Roanoke, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, October 28, 1996, from Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Rick Poland and the Rev. Ray Frazier will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Scruggs Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel.

CUNNINGHAM, Garrett Wayne, 42, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Banks Cunningham, Roanoke; three sons, Garrett Wayne Isaac Cunningham of Washington, D.C., Jamal Cunningham of Connecticut, Garrett Wayne Mays; one daughte r, Latasha Annette Mays; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl (Florence) Hardy, Ralph Hardy and John Percy Cunningham; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Annie Luvenia (Harold) Preston and Norma Cecelia Smith, and two grandchildren, Jazelle Mays and Deante' Mays, all of Roanoke, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Woods Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in Mount Pleasant. DALTON, Beulah Huff, 68, of Hillsville, passed away Saturday, October 26, 1996 in Eldercare of Hillsville. She was born June 4, 1928 in Carroll County, Va. Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Dalton. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Donald Goad, Hillsville, Linda Dalton, Wytheville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert Delmon and Nell Huff, Bristol, Tenn., Walter and Daisy Huff, Hillsville; one grandson, Kelly Goad; special niece, Lola Sutphin. Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday, October 28, 1996 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville with the Rev. Layne Pennington and the Rev. Clay Hamm officiating. DeWEESE, Reecie Green, 66, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 26, 1996, in a Rocky Mount nursing home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Minnie Richards Green, and five brothers, Claude, Ernest, Bill, Ervin and Luther Green. She was the widow of Nova F. DeWeese. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Sherwood (Audrey) Nichols of Callaway, Mary Lois Green of Rocky Mount and Mrs. Cecil (Be rtha) Guilliams of Roanoke; two sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held, and there will be no visitation. DOOLEY, Elmer Jackson, (``Jack""), 50, of Bedford, died Friday, October 25, 1996, in B edford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on July 15, 1946, a son of Annie Odell Robertson Dooley of Montvale and the late William Hilton Dooley. He was preceded in death by a brother, William E. Dooley, and a sister, Sallie D. Morgan. He was a retired employee of Richard Wingfield Paint Contractor, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by 10 brothers, Hilton S. Dooley, Bobby G. Dooley, Roger R. Dooley and Russell Dooley of Montvale, John Lee Dooley and Wallace L. Dooley of Bedford, Lewis Dooley and Robert Dooley of Bridgeton, N.J.; Billy T. Dooley of Blacksburg and Roy Dooley of Leonardtown, Md., and a sister, Mae Underwood of Bedford. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 28, 1996, at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ray T. Lyons officiating. GEARHEART, Lelia Esther, 92, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 26, 1996. Mrs. Gearheart was a member of Ghent Grace Bretheren Church. She was the widow of Earnest M. Gearheart and is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Earnest M. Jr. and Audrey Gearheart, Falls Church, Robert O. and Estelle Gearheart, Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Bob Bradford, Scottsdale, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Fune ral services will be conducted at Lotz Roanoke Chapel 2 p.m. Monday, October 28, 1996 with Pastor Brent Sandy officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Lotz Roanoke Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday

GENTILE, Eileen Isabel, 81, of Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Shawsville, and formerly of Edinburg Square in Roanoke, died Friday, October 25, 1996. She is survived by one son, Malcolm Gentile of La Jolla, Calif.; one grandson, Tony Gentile of San Diego, Calif.; two granddaughters, Michelle Clay of La Belle, Fla., and Kimberly Gentile of San Diego, Calif., and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the Rose Garden of Sherwood Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Monday, October 28, 1996, with Dr. E. Ray Frazier officiating. HALL, Walford Vasco, 72, of Rockville, Md., passed away Friday, October 25, 1996. He originally was from Snowville, Va. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Olney Baptist Church in Olney, Md. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville, Md., is in charge of arrangements.

HANSBROUGH, James C., 68, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Roanoke, died Sunday, October 6, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Louise Jukes Hansbrough; five children; and six grandchildren; also two sisters, Mary Albert Sboray, and Mildred Sammartino, both of Roanoke; two brothers, Lewis Hansbrough, Roanoke ,and Warren Hansbrough, Altoona, Pa.

KIRTNER, Brandon Kerry, infant son of William M. and Kimberly Kirtner, of Salem, was still born Thursday, October 24, 1996. In addition to his parents he is survived by his twin brother, Bradley Aaron Kirtner; paternal grandparents, W.D. Kirtner and Jean Reed; maternal grandparents, Arlen and Shirley S. Wygal; maternal great-grandmother, Mary E. Kingery and several aunts, uncles and cousins. LEEDER, Billy E., 67, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 1996, in Richmond. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy and recently retired from the Rheem Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a deacon at Stockton Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Lema; two sons, Gary Leeder and wife, Joanne, Roanoke, Richard Leeder and wife, Daphne, York, Pa.; grandchildren, Cary, Richard James, and Catherine; great-granddaughter, Amanda. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday, October 28, 1996, at the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Elmer D. Clemons officiating. Burial to follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Lotz Salem Chapel.
