CHOIR TO PERFORM AT TREE-LIGHTING

The Roanoke College Preparatory Division's Children's Choir has been selected as the official choir for the 1996 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, the ``Pageant of Peace.''

The choir will share the stage with the United States Army Band, Willard Scott, Patti LaBelle and the President and First Lady.

Now in its 10th year, the Children's Choir has grown to include 170 singers in three choirs. Past performances include the Children's Holiday Choral Festival at Disneyworld, the Princeton Invitational/International Choral Festival, in which the choir won second place, and a joint concert with the Australian Children's Choir earlier this year.

The choir presents local concerts along with numerous other performances, a tour of elementary schools and a choral festival.

It will perform two Christmas concerts at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Roanoke on Dec. 14 and 15.
