PUBLIC PULSE

Upcoming:

The Blacksburg Town Council will consider a 15-acre development off Glade Road and a proposed cellular-phone tower off Giles Road at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St.

The first is an ordinance to rezone 15.77 acres in a development knows as The Glen, at the southern point of Oriole Drive, off Glade Road next to the Karr Heights subdivision beside the U.S. 460 bypass.

The rezoning would be from Rural Residential 1 to Rural Residential 2.

The rezoning would allow up to two dwellings per acre. The area now has a density of one unit per acre.

Town Council is also looking at a request from GTE Mobilnet to allow construction, operation and maintenance of a 150-foot cellular-phone tower on property between North Main Street and Giles Road, near New River Cement Co.

Town Council voted 5-2 in August to delay a vote on whether this is the best site.
