PEACEWORK VOLUNTEERS PLAN MEXICO TRIP

Peacework, a nonprofit, volunteer organization based in Blacksburg, is seeking volunteers for a trip to Ixmiquilpan, Mexico, from Dec. 28 to Jan. 12. Volunteers will help with a local Habitat for Humanity project there as well as participate in cultural programs and discussions about issues in Latin America.

Peacework is seeking individuals over 18 with a strong interest in international development and commitment to service. There is no Spanish language requirement but there will be opportunities to improve these skills. The cost of the program is estimated at $490, plus airfare (approximate total cost $850).

Peacework was founded in 1989 and has since sent volunteers from all over the world to Latin America, Africa, the former Soviet Union and the United States. Its programs promote reconciliation and cooperation by exploring issues of international conflict and social problems while providing humanitarian assistance with local, development projects.
